Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival

Apr 8 - 9 & 15 - 16, 2023

For over 30 years Clarendon families have made and sold udon (Japanese noodle soup) to festival goers in order to raise PAC funds. Come out and enjoy a hot (or cold) bowl of delicious udon - it is a joy to be part of this event and should not be missed.

Parade

The parade will be taking place Sunday, April 16th. This year's parade is a big deal for Clarendon, as the parade has not happened since 2019 (due to COVID). We will also be celebrating the Clarendon JBBP 50th anniversary in this year's parade! We encourage all of our JBBP parents to participate in this special event! Here is some important information about the parade.

All Kindergarteners get to ride on the float!
The parade can be an exciting first for kindergarten families. We ask that kindergarten parents, and all parents, decide if they will:

  1. Join the parade in the designated parent area

  2. Drop their children off and watch from the sidelines as an audience member. (This is a great way to get a picture)

Clarendon will have one designated photographer who will share wonderful photos of the parade afterward. If parents join the parade, take all photos of the float before the parade has begun.

udon booth

Running the booth allows us to spend time with fellow JBBP parents and support the Japanese American community in Northern California. We need many volunteers to make this event a success! We encourage K and 1st grade parents to volunteer and meet other JBBP families. This will be a wonderful community-building opportunity to see what San Francisco's Japantown has to offer while raising funds for JBBP PAC.

Volunteers will help with the transportation of supplies, food prep and assembly, or even train as a new Dashi Master! We are in great need of new Dashi masters for our popular Udon booth - Come and learn the secret recipe and keep the great tradition going for our school and children! Clarendon alumni are welcome to volunteer as well.

kids booth

The “Kids Area” at the Cherry Blossom Festival is coming back, and the festival committee has invited Clarendon to be one of the five organizations that will set up booths in that area. Each booth will run children’s games for a fee, and the organizations will be able to keep the profits, so this, along with the parent-run Udon Booth, will be a fundraiser for Clarendon JBBP.

We are looking for parent volunteers who can be part of the team to lead this Kids’ Booth. (April 8th, 9th, and 15th. No Kids' Booth on 16th). The organizers will provide tents, tables, and chairs, so this will not involve heavy lifting.

Please sign up for the wish list to help offset the cost of running the booth. Wish list is available in this post on ParentSquare.

The Udon Committee also needs your help in gathering some supplies! For those of you who won't be able to be there in person to help with the Udon Booth, or if any of you would like to help even more, please consider donating towards the Udon Booth Committee to help offset the cost of running the booth ($25 can help purchase a case of udon noodles, but no amount is too small).
